valentines day pillow

my friend bobbie and i decided to trade our bedding,
because we both liked each others, but were really sick of looking at our own.
and the economy is bad, so we didn't want to spend money on a new one.

so last night at 10:30 i got this bright idea i was going to make some pillows for
my "new" bedding.

and as i was making this one...

i decided it was a perfect valentines day gift.
perfect for either gender.
and will last a lot longer than flowers...
and won't make you fat like chocolates!!

for sale
$19.00/each
any saying or quote can be printed on fabric.

i love the pleated edge...

oh and my husband says the "my" needs to be centered so that is a option also!!!

hope y'all have a great day!

piano bench

hey! sorry for the lack of blogging lately, it has been crazy around here.
we have been finishing off a portion of our basement.
little man has been helping out quite a bit...

in the mean time i have taken up piano,
i had my first lesson on saturday.

i took for several years when i was younger,
but to say it was forced would be a understatement.
my grand parents are letting me use our old piano they have been storing in their basement.
when i got the piano the bench looked like this:
it looks like we used to draw and paint on it instead of playing.

with my new desired interest in playing, i wanted it to look good.
so here is the bench when i got done with it...

i love the fabric, and i as i type this i realize i did not get permission
from my maw maw to do such. :/
next week my post might say "the refinishing of the piano bench"

and yes i put it were my little bench was, but don't worry i have great plans or it.

tool shed

for christmas this past year my husband and i wanted to get our
little boy a tool work bench for christmas.
he loves helping his dad with everything around the house.
i wanted a wooden one, not plastic, because i was afraid it would not hold up
.
we contemplated between buying different ones but all of the ones we looked
at seemed poorly made for the money.

here is a couple that we looked at:

kid kraft tool bench $90 -$139.00
Kids Workbench
kids workbench $93.97

i felt like he was going to grow out of these before we did get our money out, if
it had not already fallen apart.

so we decided to build him one and i must say i love the way it turned out.

here it is right after we finished...

the cedar shake roof is my favorite part.

and here it is once we got it in the house and all the toys with it...

i stained the wood and painted the back part to look like stainless steel.
and as you can see it stores a good bit of toys...

we can actually add another shelf to the bottom when he gets a little taller.

we installed a light under the cedar roof, and it turned out so cute.
the light actually plugs into the wall, from the back.

since we loved the way it turned out we have decided to start selling them.

pricing will vary due to different options: size, locker bins, tool box, lighting
or customized colors.

mint hill madness

back in the summer my sister-in-law and myself had a booth
at mint hill madness.

my sister-in-law makes beautiful baby stuff.

(you can fin her here mcgeemommy)

here are a few of the things i sold at mint hill madness:

high chair

cowboy chair
(this chair was free and i wish i had a before picture b/c it was a awful
dirty denim blue, it sold with in 30 minutes of getting our booth set up)

black & white chair

it was a lot of fun. hopefully we will be able to do something like this again.

this is the before...

i painted it cream and then i antiqued it.

i just love the fabric...
the colors are so pretty.

cabinets...

my husband built me these cabinets to go on either side
of our fireplace in our dining room about a year or so ago.
he can build just about anything.
he is rather talented.

i painted them antique white and the back wall a light turquoise blue.
and added my plate collection.

i love the door handles.

hobby lobby carries a great anthropologie knock off.
in fact they look the exact same.
....

i have to admit i still have not taken down the last of my Christmas decorations.
but its only because i love the way it turned out.

it might have to stick around for a little while longer... :)

my favorite vintage find...

this little piece of furniture would by far be my favorite "vintage" find.

a couple of years ago i stumbled upon it in a little antique shop.
it was one of those thing i had to have, and normally i would have called my husband to make sure it was okay before i purchased it, but i told them i would take it anyways!
i love everything about it. the fabric is original and a bit faded.
but i love it.

hanging above it is part of my antique plate collection.
